Published by Chopin Project (A0.881353). Back to School 2015 I Can Play Chopin is a wonderful compilation of TEN ARRANGEMENTS of well-known Chopin masterpieces for Late beginner progressing through Early Intermediate and then to Late Intermediate levels. Arranged by composer, pianist and educator, Dina Pruzhansky, this collection of easy, fun, and high-quality arrangements provides the perfect introduction to the best of Chopin's music. Why? According to Chopin Project Founder and Publisher, Frederick Slutsky, I Can Play Chopin gives students something they've never before been able to experience -- early access to Chopin's works allowing them to develop greater familiarity with his music as they work toward playing the originals. Depending on their level of accomplishment, our resources include appropriate cues and comprehensive pedaling notation as well as optional arpeggiatos for smaller hands. I Can Play Chopin makes even the most complex etudes approachable for less experienced players with their style and brevity. As an example, Etude Opus 10, No. 3 has been rendered as a lovely duet for Late Beginner (Primo), and Intermediate (Secondo). Begin your journey with the inspiration of Chopin, and revel in masterful works from the start! The incremental progression from Late Beginner and Early Intermediate will encourage numerous years of enjoyment by all ages. Features: Easy to play, accessible and sensitive arrangements of well-known Chopin masterpieces; Arranged by a pianist, composer and teacher; Gradual progression in difficulty; User-friendly, Easy to read layout; Introductory note about each genre; Glossary of terminology. Piano Solo - Level 2 - SKU: A0.912998 Composed by Paul Mazzolini and Pierluigi Giombini. Arranged by Andrei-Lucian Drăgoi. Contemporary. Score. 3 pages. Andrei-Lucian Dragoi #4321855. Published by Andrei-Lucian Dragoi (A0.912998). This is a 2-pages arrangement for piano solo (intermediate level) of the famous piece I like Chopin by Gazebo (Paul Mazzolini). Important note. As part of my major project to propose a periodical musical staff (to replace the traditional Western musical staff), I frequently use the G-clef 8vb (an octave inferiorly to the central octave) or the 15vb (2 octaves inferiorly to the central octave) for the (piano) left hand AND the G-clef 8va (an octave superiorly to the central octave) or the 15va (2 octaves superiorly to the central octave) for the (piano) right hand, mainly for the simplicity of reading, but also for a unified G-clef-based notation for any standard (Western) orchestral instrument.SEE ALSO:My music catalog:https://www.researchgate.net/publication/328352315https://www.academia.edu/38013818My LeadMuse software and the modular staff concept)https://www.researchgate.net/publication/325877146https://www.academia.edu/36909545A collection of easy piano pieces using the periodic musical staff:https://www.researchgate.net/publication/330716995Enjoy!

Piano,Violin - Level 4 - SKU: A0.799603 Composed by Frederic Chopin. Arranged by Nicole Elyse DiPaolo. Romantic Period. 7 pages. Nicole Elyse DiPaolo #3123257. Published by Nicole Elyse DiPaolo (A0.799603). This is my own arrangement of one of my favorite Chopin waltzes for the piano. As the Duo del Mare, violinist Amy Schlicher and I performed this arrangement aboard the ms Zaandam cruise liner, where it proved very popular. Because Amy and I did not have extra time or venues in which to rehearse, I intentionally made this arrangement very accessible (so that we could play it well without rehearsal or an intermediate-level duo could master it with some practice). This waltz would make a great encore or showpiece on your next program.About the Arranger:Praised as a sensitive pianist and outstanding accompanist who delivers powerful interpretations, Nicole Elyse DiPaolo is a versatile pianist, composer, and scholar currently based in Bloomington, Indiana. She holds a B.Mus in Music Theory from the University of Michigan-Ann Arbor, where she studied piano under Michele Cooker and Louis Nagel; she also studied composition with Bright Sheng and basso continuo/harpsichord accompaniment with Edward Parmentier. In 2006 and 2007, Nicole appeared as a concerto soloist with the Ambassador Chamber Players, featuring works of J. S. Bach and Mozart alongside two performances of her own Piano Trio in C minor. Following her graduation from Michigan, Nicole completed an MM in Music Theory from Indiana University-Bloomington, where she has recently become a PhD candidate in the same field; her dissertation research will explore relationships between selected early partimenti (instructional sketches used by Italian composition teachers) and George Frideric Handel’s compositional techniques. Currently, Nicole is a sought-after private instructor of piano, music theory, and composition on the IU campus, where she is also an active mostly-vocal accompanist. Nicole continues to enjoy musical partnerships with students of nearly every current IU voice department faculty member (and she unashamedly absorbs and borrows teaching/coaching/performing tips from all these professors). In addition, she has taken French and German diction courses with Prof. Gary Arvin. Notable recent engagements include the 2016 and 2017 National Society of Arts and Letters Vocal Competitions (multiple entrants); the Opera Night at North benefit concert with students of IU's top-ranked opera program (among them Accidental Tenor Andrew Lunsford); and two long-term cruise ship performing contracts with violinist Amy Schlicher as the Duo del Mare. When not working on one of her many concurrent musical projects, Nicole might be found maintaining The Collaborative Pianists’ Community on Facebook, cuddling the nearest dog, looking for opportunities to maintain her Spanish and Italian language skills, and raising and releasing monarch butterflies. Piano Solo - Level 5 - SKU: A0.938022 Composed by Liz Nedela. Classical,Contest,Festival,Instructional,Multicultural,World. Score. 12 pages. Liz Nedela #6479507. Published by Liz Nedela (A0.938022). This Piano Solo was composed for Nina, who is a college freshman and plays advanced music. Nina requested a Nocturne in the Phrygian mode that would resemble the style of Chopin. Her favorite composer is Chopin, and loves his nocturnes. She has written a poem about Chopin. Nina began her first year of college during the pandemic, and is consequently a virtual student. Her major is Bio-Engineering. During high school, she has accompanied choirs and solo- ensemble festivals, participated in many solo piano events, and completed all the requirements of the OMTA syllabus. Because she is attending college virtually and is living with her family locally, she continues to study piano with her long-time OMTA piano teacher. Nina also has earned a black belt in Karate; and she likes skiing and fashion. The piece is part of a collaboration between composers and students. It is a project of the Oregon Music Teachers Association and the Cascadia Composers chapter of NACUSA (National Association of Composers USA). The annual concert, titled In Good Hands, features original compositions that are chosen by OMTA teachers for their students. In 2021, the project includes individualized collaboration where composers wrote for specific students. The composers met with the students, and together they decided on a composition written according to the requests of the student.

Piano Solo - SKU: A0.1025147 Composed by Kirk O'Riordan. 20th Century,Contemporary. Score. 71 pages. Kirk O'Riordan #4357421. Published by Kirk O'Riordan (A0.1025147). Twenty-six Preludeswas composed for Holly Roadfeldt between September 2013 and April 2014. Unlike the famous preludes by composers like Bach, Chopin, and Debussy, mine are not organized by key. Instead, they are organized by threads: compositional ideas that are developed over the course of the entire set. Composing the set in this manner allowed me to develop several ideas concurrently with the idea that they would in some way merge together by the end of the set, giving the several disparate ideas a real reason to exist together in the same set. In addition, because I was not using key as a resource, I was not constrained by the number 24. The end result is a cycle of preludes that is in some ways more closely related to a Schubertian song cycle than to the Preludes of Chopin, Bach, or Debussy. That is not to say that there is not a close conceptual connection with the Preludes of those masters (there are subtle references to each of those composers in the score), but my intention was to treat the Preludes in a cyclical fashion rather than, as is the case with Bach and Chopin, an exploration of the nuances of the 24 keys. The preludes were not composed in the order that they are presented. Some of them came in quick bunches: two or three in a day; others took longer. In addition to developing the compositional threads, I was interested in creating a wide range of moods that also held together as a set. Overall, the moods become more intense as the set unfolds. The premiere performance was given by Holly Roadfeldt on November 18, 2014 at the University at Albany. Approximate Duration: 46 minutesHolly Roadfeldt's recording of Twenty-Six Preludes can be found on her CD The Preludes Project (Ravello Records).

Piano Solo - Level 3 - SKU: A0.1403603 Composed by Bedrich Smetana. Arranged by Zellev. 19th Century,Classical,Historic,Multicultural,World. Score. 3 pages. Zellev Music #986782. Published by Zellev Music (A0.1403603). Key Signature: A MinorTime Signature: 2/4Tempo: ModeratoDifficulty: IntermediateBedřich Smetana (2 March 1824 – 12 May 1884) was a Czech composer who pioneered the development of a musical style that became closely identified with his people's aspirations to a cultural and political revival. He has been regarded in his homeland as the father of Czech music. Internationally he is best known for his 1866 opera The Bartered Bride and for the symphonic cycle Má vlast (My Fatherland), which portrays the history, legends and landscape of the composer's native Bohemia. It contains the famous symphonic poem Vltava, also popularly known by its German name Die Moldau (in English, The Moldau). All but a handful of Smetana's compositions before his departure for Gothenburg are piano works. Some of these early pieces have been dismissed by music historian Harold Schonberg as bombastic virtuoso rhetoric derived from Liszt. Under Proksch, however, Smetana acquired more polish, as revealed in works such as the G minor Sonata of 1846 and the E-flat Polka of the same year. The set of Six Characteristic Pieces of 1848 was dedicated to Liszt, who described it as the most outstanding, finely felt and finely finished pieces that have recently come to my note. In this period Smetana planned a cycle of so-called album leaves, short pieces in every major and minor key, after the manner of Chopin's Preludes. The project became somewhat disorganised; in the pieces completed, some keys are repeated while others are unrepresented. After Smetana's final return from Gothenburg, when he committed himself primarily to the development of Czech opera, he wrote nothing for the piano for 13 years.[https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Bed%C5%99ich_Smetana].

These four piano pieces were compiled as a set and dedicated to the memory of David Del Tredici. The idea for Four a Mentor was sparked by the recent death of the composer, David Del Tredici with whom Burwasser studied while working toward completing his Ph.D. in composition at the CUNY Graduate School. When hearing of his passing, Burwasser immediately searched for some old pieces he had written under Del Tredici's tutelage during the late 1980s. He unearthed two pieces which were composed with him, “Mini Waltz”, when Burwasser was tasked to write a piece in the style of Chopin, and a short, jazzy arrangement of the 19th-century Christian hymn and Christmas carol, “O Come, O Come, Emmanuel”. The other two works while not directly associated with Del Tredici, were composed during the same era. “Lullaby” was written in honor of the birth of a friend’s niece. The “Prelude”, originally named “Title Sequence”, was based on a film project the composer was working on that never came to fruition (like “Three Shades of Lenny”). All four pieces have been minimally revised. .

This piece was originally written for an English class project, where I have to demonstrate understanding of a book that talks about a Chinese woman's transition to American culture. Therefore, you will notice in this piece the transition from Asian to Western music. The piece starts with traditional Chinese music, then moves into more modern Asian music and then to a famous chord progression by Chopin. From there, the piece moves into a jazzy dance, and finally finishes on a modal folk tune. The piece contains challenges for several technical skills, making it idea for recitals and talent shows. The duration is around 4 minuets. Email me at yi15922@gmail.com if you have any questions! .

Jubilation is “a feeling of great happiness and triumph.” We might experience this feeling when we complete a grueling project, celebrate a graduation, or welcome a new member to our family. Big or small, things that make our hearts feel full are worthy of being celebrated! Listen for the joyful bells and stunning fireworks depicted in the music. Fast fact: the final passage pays tribute to the opening of Chopin’s Etude Op. 10 No. 1.

Piano Solo - Level 5 - SKU: A0.995799 Composed by Kathleen Ryan. 20th Century,Contemporary. Score. 7 pages. Indigo Mesa Music LLC #5197945. Published by Indigo Mesa Music LLC (A0.995799). Verbs is a set of 24 impressionistic preludes for piano left hand alone, composed by Kathleen RyanEach prelude evokes the energy and mood of its title verb. Thus, the preludes utilize a wide range of modern styles and harmonic languages.Wait - to be in readiness or expectation. These preludes hark back to earlier antecedents by Debussy, Rachmaninov, Chopin and J S Bach in their variety and appeal, creating an album rich in contrasts. Ryan’s composing style is eclectic, referencing jazz, contemporary classical, traditional classical, and American folk songs and hymns: Play, for example, is a vibrant anthem, redolent of sacred harp singing, while other Preludes are more contemplative, tender and wistful (Forgive, Bloom). Push is energetic and rumbling, suggesting bustling city life, Bounce scampers playfully around the keyboard with jazzy syncopations and colourful harmonies, and Tangle is redolent of some of Prokofiev’s more introspective ‘Visions Fugitives’. The album closes with the meditative Bless. Frances Wilson, The Cross-Eyed PianistVerbs: 24 Preludes for Piano Left Hand is a fascinating collection of pieces composed by Kathleen Ryan. The project originated in 2006 when [Keith] Porter-Snell asked Ryan to create a set of twenty-four piano preludes for left hand only, one in each key. In her search for a unifying theme, Ryan settled on the idea of verbs, one for each prelude, because a verb conveys a distinct quality of energy and motion. ... Ryan’s eclectic composing style contains elements of jazz, contemporary classical, traditional classical, and her own vision that includes making the piano sing. ... It is hard to believe that these preludes are played with only one hand, as they are full, rich, and sound like they move all over the piano keyboard. All of the titles are one-word verbs and the preludes range in duration from 34 seconds to a little more than four minutes. Some are light and playful and some are more complex and dramatic. All are very different from each other and specific to their individual ‘verbs.’ Kathy Parsons, MainlyPiano.com

An introspective and meditative work with a lot of dynamic and phrasing nuance. Works well for church meditations or recital encores.BackgroundOp.11/2 Alto Clarinet version. First of all, Scriabin composed mostly for the solo piano and also the orchestra. This is probably because he was a gifted pianist and therefore certainly appreciated the piano. Scriabin grew up in the late Romantic period, consequently, he was fond of the great piano masters of the time. As a result, he wrote his first noteworthy compositions in the manner of Chopin and Liszt.FormsLikewise, Scriabin used many of the same forms as Chopin. These certainly include the étude, prelude, nocturne, and even the mazurka. In contrast, as he developed his own sense of style his music became more and more unusual. So, the last five of his Piano Sonatas do not have a key signature and therefore lean towards atonality.PhilosophyScriabin also developed a keen interest in philosophy and likewise poetry. He was above all particularly fascinated by Nietzsche, Delville, and Blavatsky. Consequently, he finally established his own ideas about metaphysics and certainly mysticism. Scriabin consequently advanced theories about the relationship between color and musical keys.SynesthesiaHe also may have experienced a condition called synesthesia where he could probably sense a response created from a different stimulus. Therefore, it was almost as if he could see music and hear colors. Scriabin, therefore, arranged the colors in a circle similar to the circle-of-fifths and assigned each key area a color. Finally, he assigned the key of C to the color red, while the key of G was orange. Similarly, he assigned D to yellow, A to green, and so forth. Strangely, he did not differentiate between major and minor key colors. MultimediaHence, his ability to translate colors into music certainly gave Scriabin a most noteworthy interest in creating multimedia events. Furthermore, He designed his biggest work, the Mysterium, to last an entire week. Even more, Scriabin made plans not only for music, but also colored lights, incense, and dancing. He designed the performance to occur in the foothills of the Himalaya mountains. The Mysterium was never performed, and only sketches of the work remain.Modern PerformancesIn modern times, we often experience performances of Scriabin’s most famous completed works accompanied by colored laser lights and incense. These are the Poem of Ecstasy (completed in 1908) and the Poem of Fire (completed in 1910). The lighting effects for these early performances were accomplished by the clavier à lumiéres. An introspective and meditative work with a lot of dynamic and phrasing nuance. Works well for church meditations or recital encores. Background Op.11/2 Alto Clarinet version. First of all, Scriabin composed mostly for the solo piano and also the orchestra. This is probably because he was a gifted pianist and therefore certainly appreciated the piano. Scriabin grew up in the late Romantic period, consequently, he was fond of the great piano masters of the time. As a result, he wrote his first noteworthy compositions in the manner of Chopin and Liszt. Forms Likewise, Scriabin used many of the same forms as Chopin. These certainly include the étude, prelude, nocturne, and even the mazurka. In contrast, as he developed his own sense of style his music became more and more unusual. So, the last five of his Piano Sonatas do not have a key signature and therefore lean towards atonality. Philosophy Scriabin also developed a keen interest in philosophy and likewise poetry. He was above all particularly fascinated by Nietzsche, Delville, and Blavatsky. Consequently, he finally established his own ideas about metaphysics and certainly mysticism. Scriabin consequently advanced theories about the relationship between color and musical keys. Synesthesia He also may have experienced a condition called synesthesia where he could probably sense a response created from a different stimulus. Multimedia Hence, his ability to translate colors into music certainly gave Scriabin a most noteworthy interest in creating multimedia events. Furthermore, He designed his biggest work, the Mysterium, to last an entire week. Even more, Scriabin made plans not only for music, but also colored lights, incense, and dancing. He designed the performance to occur in the foothills of the Himalaya mountains. The Mysterium was never performed, and only sketches of the work remain. Modern Performances In modern times, we often experience performances of Scriabin’s most famous completed works accompanied by colored laser lights and incense. These are the Poem of Ecstasy (completed in 1908) and the Poem of Fire (completed in 1910). The lighting effects for these early performances were accomplished by the clavier à lumiéres. It was a keyboard instrument that projected colored light onto a screen.
